The Unit conducts research into the relationship between human behaviour and brain function.
Assessment technique
The research uses neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric assessment, and structural brain imaging.
Three-dimensional models of the brain are reconstructed and analysed using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and sophisticated neuroimaging techniques.
Projects
Current projects include:
- diagnosis of depression in Alzheimer's disease
- validation of a set of standardised diagnostic criteria for deficits of insight, judgement and competency in dementia
- prevalence and nature of apathy in people with stroke
- relationship between testosterone and oestradiol status and its association with mood, cognition and functional status in people with Parkinson's disease.
