Our unit investigates research and education in alcohol and drugs.
Research
We are currently conducting research into the use of the sustained release Naltrexone implant.
Other research includes:
- Dual diagnosis (substance abuse and mental illness).
- The role of self-control (or the lack of) in depression.
Previous research has assessed genetic polymorphisms possibly associated with heroin dependence.
We have also carried out a baseline survey among patients with mental health disorders of their attitudes towards the proposed ‘smokefree’ WA hospital policy which was implemented in January 2008.
